THE
DEPARTMENT

The Irving Police Department is a mid-sized agency with 403 officers. The benefit of our size is the vast opportunity for growth and movement without being just a number. We offer 45 specialized units in which you can gain investigative experience. From SWAT to K-9, from Crime Scene to Criminal Investigations, from Narcotics to Bomb Squad…the opportunities for proactive and motivated officers at the Irving Police Department are endless.
The Irving Police Department’s reputation is one of proactivity. The City of Irving is conveniently located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. A suburb of Dallas, Irving is only 15 minutes from downtown and 30 minutes from neighboring Fort Worth. Boasting 67.97 square miles and approximately 256,000 residents, the city has much to offer. It is comprised of residential housing, commercial business offices and several entertainment venues. Whether you’re looking for outdoor recreation, music, art, or shopping, Irving has a bit of everything.
