Military Qualifications

Military applicants wanting to transition as quickly as possible need to take a civil service exam that is closest to when he or she will acquire their official DD-214.  Contact one of our recruiters if you have questions regarding your time line for transitioning. The official DD-214 will be required to complete the background process.  

QUALIFICATIONS FOR FORMER MILITARY:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.

  • Must be a United States Citizen.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.

  • College hours:

    • Waived completely for applicants who have completed 3 or more years of active duty military service and received an honorable discharge.​

  • Must not have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions, including:

    • Bad conduct.​

    • Dishonorable.

    • Any other characterization of service indicating bad character.

  • Must not have any criminal convictions above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor, or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

  • GI bill® benefits paid while on a training status.

  • Veteran's preference points awarded on civil service exam (5 extra points with a passing score as long as DD-214 is presented prior to the written exam).

  • 15 paid military days per year for reserve service.

  • Condensed application process for out of state applicants.
