POLICE OFFICER
Military Qualifications
Military applicants wanting to transition as quickly as possible need to take a civil service exam that is closest to when he or she will acquire their official DD-214. Contact one of our recruiters if you have questions regarding your time line for transitioning. The official DD-214 will be required to complete the background process.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR FORMER MILITARY:

Must be at least 21 years old.

Must be a United States Citizen.

Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.

College hours:
-
Waived completely for applicants who have completed 3 or more years of active duty military service and received an honorable discharge.

Must not have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions, including:
-
Bad conduct.
-
Dishonorable.
-
Any other characterization of service indicating bad character.
-

Must not have any criminal convictions above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor, or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS:

GI bill® benefits paid while on a training status.

Veteran's preference points awarded on civil service exam (5 extra points with a passing score as long as DD-214 is presented prior to the written exam).
-
15 paid military days per year for reserve service.
-
Condensed application process for out of state applicants.
